William Lawson was born on 26 June 1731 at Montrose, Scotland. He was a follower of Prince Charles Edward Stuart at Culloden Moor during the Jacobite uprising. They were badly defeated and many scottish highlanders and thier famlies were slaughtered or imprisoned. William Lawson was one of many placed in prison in Northern England. In 1746 at Scotland.1 He immigrated 05/__/1747 to US; Lawson was one of about 200 Scottish rebels who were bound out as apprentices to american plantation owners. The owner of the plantation to which Lawson was bound did not treat him well and Lawson ran away after about a year.1 He married Rebecca (?) circa 1750.1 William Lawson was living at NC, US; William & Rebecca lived for a while in Western North Carolina before moving to southwest Virginia.1 He Lived in Montgomery Co. now part of Pulaski Co. in the 1770's and 80's between 1770 and 1780 at Montgomery, VA, US.1 He began military service on 13 September 1777 at Montgomery, VA, US; Beacme a member of Captain Daniel Trigg's Company of the Montgomery County Militia.1 He died on 18 April 1826 at age 94.1 He was buried in 1826 at Snowflake Community, Scott, VA, US; Buried on a knoll near the Snowflake community with Rebecca.1
