David Crockett Cox was a farmer.2 He was born on 17 May 1839 at Scott, VA, US.1,3,4,2 He was the son of Jacob Cox and Pricilla McConnell.1 David Crockett Cox married Eliza Ann Elam, daughter of William Elam and Rebecca (?), on 4 August 1858 at Scott, VA, US, service performed by James Stallard.2 David Crockett Cox was listed in the 1860 census at Scott, VA, US.5 David Crockett Cox served in the Virginia 48th Infantry as a private in Company C. He enlisted at Osborne Fort in Scott County in May of 1861 when he was 21 years old. He was present through 10/15/1861. From 10/18/1861 through 4/30/1862, he was hospitalized in Meadow Bluff, Greenbrier Co. West Virginia. Records reflect that he was sick. He was captured and served as a POW in Louisville, Kentucky in May of 1864. That same month he was sent as a POW to Louisa, Kentucky where he deserted to the enemy and was released on oath. Records show him as 5' 10", dark complexion, red hair, black eyes in 1864.6 He died on 2 June 1882 of cancer at floyed District, Scott, VA, US, at age 43.1,3,4,7 He was buried at Cox Cemetery, Fort Blackmore, Scott, VA, US.4

She was born Aug. 14, 1911 in Dungannon, VA. Ms. Flanary was a member of Dungannon United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late John George and Geneva Wolfe Cox; her husband, Howard Paul Flanary; and son, Jimmy Paul Flanary. Flanary Survivors include her daughters, Betty Salyer and husband, Myron, Nickelsville, Va., Bobbie Farmer and husband, Don, Norton, Va., Margaret Meade and husband, Joe, Nickelsville, Va; sons and daughter-in-law, Johnny Flanary and wife, Jayne, Catawba, Va., and Charles "Chuck" Flanary and wife, Reba, Bluff City, and daughter-in-law, Barbara Flanary; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Steve Collins and Rev. Joe Barber officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Va. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Sam Farmer, Steven Farmer, Brian Flanary, Darrell Meade, Chuck Flanary, Jr., Rodney Urbani. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack McCarty, Tony Jarman, Butch Hutchinson, and Billy Jack Cox. The family will meet at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery. EvaLee Clarice Cox was born on 7 July 1923. She was the daughter of Marvin David Cox and Vesta Victoria Smith. EvaLee Clarice Cox married Edward Lee Fondaw on 6 June 1942. EvaLee Clarice Cox died on 8 April 2004 Eva Lee Cox Fondaw, 80, of 3309 Ketron Drive, Kingsport, passed away Thursday (April 8, 2004) at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Coeburn, Va., she had been a resident of the Kingsport area for the past 75 years. She was a member of State Line Baptist Church and Teamsters Local #534. Eva Lee was a member of the Bristol Pea Pickers Square Dance Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin David and Vesta Smith Cox; one sister, Jaynell Henard; two brothers, Randall and Willard Cox. Fondaw Survivors include her husband, Edward L. Fondaw; one daughter, Pat and husband Garnie Christian of Kingsport; one granddaughter, Sabra Kerznar of Bradenton, Fla; one grandson, Joel Christian of Bradenton, Fla; five great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Paulson-Christian, Cameron Christian and Cole Christian, Kya Kerznar and Koye Kerznar, all of Bradenton, Fla; two brothers, Howard J. Cox and Fred Cox, both of Kingsport; one uncle, John Henry Cox, Weber City, Va; several nieces and nephews. At Kingsport, Sullivan, TN, US, at age 80.1
